Priyanka Chopra worked hard to lose American accent and win Miss India, Miss World

Priyanka Chopra is a woman of many talents. She won the Miss World pageant in 2000, when she was only 17, she’s a bonafide Bollywood star, she starred on popular US television show Quantico for multiple seasons and now she’s taking over Hollywood, film after film.

Oh and did we mentioned how had Priyanka had to work to win the Miss India and Miss World crowns. No we’re not talking about how she stayed in great shape or built a more demure, beauty queen-worthy style.


Believe it or not, Priyanka had to work really hard to get rid of the American accent she had acquired while studying at a US school, before she won Miss India. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Sabira Merchant, who trained Priyanka for the annual beauty pageant, said getting rid of Priyanka’s accent became quite a challenge.

“It was an honest American accent which she had picked up naturally. Nothing was put on. When you are that young, you are impressionable and you pick up the accent you are hearing all around you,” Merchant said.


Merchant also said that Priyanka worked really hard to compete and that she followed her to Mumbai’s SNDT University (where Merchant was teaching then) for her queries.

“I would be like, ‘Now Priyanka we have done enough work. You can relax, you are okay.’ And she would say, ‘No, no, just one more question.’ She was so bent on improving herself. She was so keen that it was just unbelievable,” Merchant said.

Priyanka Chopra to accompany Nick Jonas for concert in Brazil

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra's rumoured romance has created quite a flutter on the net. The couple spent a week in India, and their photos were all over social media. After a short trip to Goa, they attended Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta's mehendi ceremony in Mumbai.

Nick even met Priyanka's mother, Madhu Chopra, and had dinner with her after the function.

Nick and Priyanka left India, the day before, and have now headed to Brazil. If reports are to be believed, Priyanka will accompany Nick to his concert at VillaMix festival.

Things seem to be moving fast between the couple. Nick seems to have made things Insta-official, when he shared a video of Priyanka walking towards him and laughing on his Instagram story. He captioned it "Her" along with a heart eyes emoji.

Earlier this month, Nick took Priyanka as his date to his cousin's wedding, where she met and bonded with the entire Jonas clan.

Buzz has it that Nick is absolutely head over heels in love with Priyanka and has even asked her to move in with him.

She draped a white blazer over her shoulder, and also donned a pair of cat-eye glasses.

She opted for a pair of strappy heels in black to complete her date-night look.

Priyanka Chopra "Sorry" About Quantico Episode, Says "I'm A Proud Indian"

Priyanka Chopra has apologised for an episode in her American TV series Quantico which has sparked a major backlash online, with angry fans slamming the actor. In the episode, Priyanka Chopra, who plays Alex Parrish, is an anti-terrorist officer who plots a nuclear attack in Manhattan to frame Pakistan for it, just days before an Indo-Pak summit is to be held. The episode has drawn intense criticism from Indian fans.

"I'm extremely saddened and sorry that some sentiments have been hurt by a recent episode of Quantico. That was not and would never be my intention. I sincerely apologise. I'm a proud Indian and that will never change," Priyanka Chopra, 35, tweeted.

The producers at US network ABC that airs Quantico have also asserted that the actor has been targeted "unfairly" over the episode that aired on June 1.

ABC has stood by the Quantico star who has been attacked on social media. Priyanka Chopra is one of the highest-paid Indian actors and has also starred in Baywatch, a 2017 film based on the television series of the same name starring American actor Pamela Anderson. Priyanka Chopra made her debut in Quantico in 2015.

"ABC Studios and the executive producers of Quantico would like to extend an apology to our audience who were offended by the most recent episode, The Blood of Romeo," a spokesperson of the studio said in a statement.

Priyanka Chopra shares 'bridal crew' images from Royal Wedding

Actress Priyanka Chopra, who was among the guests at her friend and The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle's marriage to Prince Harry, has shared few unseen photographs from the Royal wedding in which she can be seen alongside actor-TV host James Corden and Suits star Abigail Spencer.

In one group shot, she posed with the likes of James Corden and Harry and Meghan's friend Markus Anderson, who is very close to the couple.

She also shared an image of her posing for a selfie with Abigail Spencer. The two actresses arrived together at the wedding on May 19.

In another photograph, Priyanka posed arm-in-arm with Markus Anderson, who can be holding a card with some notes on it - prompting speculation that he made a speech during the reception.
