Serena Williams Skips Wimbledon Media Duties for Royal Date With Meghan Markle

Serena Williams postponed her Wimbledon media duties for a royal appointment on Saturday as the American star joined the Duchess of Sussex at a polo match.

Williams is a close friend of Meghan Markle and the seven-time Wimbledon champion was a guest at her wedding to Prince Harry at Windsor Castle in May.

Journalists at Wimbledon were expecting Serena to discuss her first appearance at the Grand Slam since becoming a mother for the first time last September.

But instead the 23-time major winner put her scheduled press conference on hold after a morning practice session with her sister Venus at the All England Club.

Wimbledon officials announced the postponement only minutes before Williams was due in the media room.

Just hours later, Serena and her husband Alexis Ohanian were photographed arriving for the Audi Polo Challenge in Ascot, where Prince Harry and his brother Prince William were among the players.

Williams will be back at Wimbledon for a press conference on Sunday morning, with defending champions Garbine Muguruza and Roger Federer also due to conduct their pre-tournament interviews.

Wimbledon gets underway on Monday, with 25th seed Williams scheduled to play Holland's Arantxa Rus in the first round.

Meet Mumbai activist Suhani Jalota who was a special guest at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding

For 23-year-old activist Suhani Jalota, "super excited", like she confesses, is an emotion to relate to. Founder of Mumbai-based Myna Mahila Foundation, she is one among the four women who were on the special guest list at the royal wedding.

The organisation, which produces and distributes low-cost sanitary napkins, is the only non-UK organisation marking its attendance at the Prince Harry and actress Meghan Markle's wedding. Her colleagues, Deborah Das, Archana Ambre, and Imogen Mansfield, are among the 1,200 members of the public invited to attend the wedding picnic party on the grounds of the Castle, says a report by The New Indian Express.

This all started in 2016, when Suhani gave a talk at the Glamour College Women of the Year Awards, where Meghan Markle was in the audience. Moved by her passion and intent, Meghan reached out to Suhani and visited Mumbai.

Suhani's organisation Myna is one of the four charities of the couple’s choice for donations (in place of gifts) from the wedding, says the Vogue.  Sanjay Garg, a designer from Raw Mango, who designed the outfit for Suhani and her team said,

Priyanka Chopra shares 'bridal crew' images from Royal Wedding

Actress Priyanka Chopra, who was among the guests at her friend and The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle's marriage to Prince Harry, has shared few unseen photographs from the Royal wedding in which she can be seen alongside actor-TV host James Corden and Suits star Abigail Spencer.

In one group shot, she posed with the likes of James Corden and Harry and Meghan's friend Markus Anderson, who is very close to the couple.

She also shared an image of her posing for a selfie with Abigail Spencer. The two actresses arrived together at the wedding on May 19.

In another photograph, Priyanka posed arm-in-arm with Markus Anderson, who can be holding a card with some notes on it - prompting speculation that he made a speech during the reception.
