Ceremony Begins As Meghan Walks The Aisle Towards Prince Harry

While 750 million people tuned into their television sets to watch his father, Prince Charles, and mother, Lady Diana Spencer, walk the aisle way back in 1981, his older brother Prince William's marriage ceremony to Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, in 2011, drew a global audience of two billion people. Now, that it's his turn, the entire world seems to be tuning in (time differences be damned) to watch Prince Harry tie the knot with American actress Meghan Markle. While William's marriage to Kate set a precedent for the usually reserved British royalty marrying into "common" stock, Harry and Meghan's nuptials are even more sweeping. Meghan is a divorcee to begin with, biracial to boot and perhaps most significantly, Roman Catholic by religious persuasion. Since the time of Henry VIII and the establishment of the Church of England, British royals have been discouraged, even prohibited, from entering into wedlock with Catholics. But this is the 21st Century and Harry and Meghan are emphatically modern in their approach.  READ MORE
