UFC heavyweight still obsessed with Ronda Rousey, sends flowers to celebrate ‘Rowdy’s’ hall of fame induction

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight contender, Derrick Lewis, is getting a lot of mileage out of his Ronda Rousey obsession, which started with his UFC Fight Night 105 bout against her husband, Travis “Wife Beater” Browne, back in early 2017.

Apparently, “Black Beast” is still enamored with the former women’s bantamweight champion and her “fine ass,” which can now be seen wrecking shop over at World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

“I already sent her flowers,” Lewis told Flo Combat. “You’re trying to distract me. I’ve got to fight extra hard, she might go to the fight. She might be watching. Now I’m nervous.”

Rousey is expected to be in attendance at the UFC 226 pay-per-view (PPV) event this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada, where Lewis fights fellow heavyweight bruiser Francis Ngannou, a few days after the promotion inducts “Rowdy” into the UFC Hall of Fame.

Just don’t expect a Lewis shout-out during her acceptance speech, or that will undoubtedly reinstitute his recent booty ban.

Early WrestleMania 35 odds suggest Roman Reigns won't be in the main event

There's never a moment to rest in WWE, and although we have just put WrestleMania 34 in the rearview mirror, attention has already turned to what the company could be planning for WrestleMania 35 in New Jersey next year.

In the build-up to the New Orleans event, it was never in doubt what the main event was going to be. In fact, fans had a good idea since the Orlando spectacle one year prior that it would be Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns meeting in the main event with the Universal Championship on the line.

While the result came as a massive shock, the fact that The Big Dog and The Beast went on last didn't surprise anybody.

Considering the WWE is adamant on pushing Reigns as the face of the company - despite revolt from fans - the former Shield member is always going to be the favourite to main event the Grandest Stage of Them All for years to come. It's easy to see why, though, as he's been in four straight main events stretching back to WrestleMania 31; where he met Lesnar for the first time before the heist of the century, courtesy of Seth Rollins.

However, SkyBet has released the early odds for what could be the main event next year, and those that want Reigns nudged from the top spot could be in for some good news, as he's currently only the second favourite to compete in the final match.

Another match which has been rumoured to main event for some months now is a highly anticipated clash between Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair.

The former UFC star shocked the world at WrestleMania 34 with an incredible in-ring debut and could become RAW Women's Champion at Money in the Bank, while The Queen ended Asuka's unbeaten run on the same night in Louisiana.

10 Wrestlers Who Have Suffered The Most Since WrestleMania 34

The main card started off at an incredible canter with what was the ideal opening match: an action-packed Intercontinental Title clash elevated beyond prime TV fare by the mere, grand stage on which it was wrestled. Cultivating a sense of genuine occasion, several shocks surged through the Superdome: Asuka cleanly tapped out to Charlotte, surrendering her Streak; Jinder Mahal tasted championship gold where most predicted he'd end up a comedy midcard jobber weeks after surrendering his WWE Championship; Stephanie McMahon participated in the best match of a card boasting AJ Styles Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura...

Then, the rot set in. WWE's lame comedy resurfaced, twice, as did its all-too-slow and simplistic big match style, insistence on the McMahon family, and a stranger still insistence on burying a man WWE has elevated to the chagrin of everybody. From the progressive to the regressive, from the barnstorming to the boring, from the sublime to the ridiculous, this was the definition of WWE in 2018 in all of its paradoxical (in)glory. The card spluttered as it groaned to a halt. As yet, WWE - nor too many of its marquee performers - have re-fuelled.

It's no use concentrating on those already mired in the gutter, like Mandy Rose or, somehow, Gran Metalik; this list mourns for those who, against all reason, are plummeting to their depths...*

*Sami Zayn excepted. The man has done himself a service by delivering awful, awful material somewhat respectably...

UFC: Dana White admits former WWE star CM Punk is likely done in UFC after brutal loss

UFC boss Dana White has admitted it might be time for CM Punk to hang up his gloves after the former WWE star's second-straight lopsided bout.

The former professional wrestler, who's real name is Phillip Brooks, shocked combat sports fans when it was announced he had signed a multi-fight contract with the UFC in 2016.

After forging a strong career in the WWE, he was looking to follow in the footsteps of Brock Lesnar and take his talents into the octagon.

However, with no background in the professional mixed martial arts arena, CM Punk ( was quickly found out in his debut.

It took the 39-year-old CM Punk 638 days to step back inside the octagon for another bout, where by unanimous decision to Mike Jackson at UFC 225 in his home town of Chicago.

Jackson, who also entered the bout with an 0-1 record after also losing his UFC debut against Gall, dominated the match but was unable to get the stoppage. While CM Punk forced the bout to go to the cards, there was no doubt that Jackson had it won.

The former WWE star was reportedly taken to hospital to receive treatment after the fight, with plenty of battle wounds showing on his face.

WWE to Emmys Voters: This Is the Greatest Show

Members of the TV Academy . . .” an over-the-top, ringside-style announcer’s voice thundered from the wings of the Wolf Theatre stage in North Hollywood on Wednesday night, signaling that this was not going to be a typical, polite, For Your Consideration event, as WWE made its debut in a fighting ring of another, equally sweaty sort—Emmy season.

“It’s the best-kept secret in entertainment, WWE,” the company’s chief brand officer, Stephanie McMahon, said in an interview before the Television Academy event. “And we don’t want to be a secret anymore.”

WWE stars including Ronda Rousey, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Nikki Bella, Brie Bella, Roman Reigns, Shawn Michaels, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax, Sasha Banks, Naomi, Braun Strowman, Jimmy Uso, and the New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston, and, Xavier Woods) joined McMahon on stage speaking to Emmy voters about topics such as inclusion, fan engagement, social-media use, and even body image, subjects where they are, arguably, ahead of much of the rest of entertainment industry. While ABC’s The Bachelor can’t seem to find a single woman in America over size two, WWE’s current women’s title holder, Nia Jax, is a six-foot-tall, 272-pound Samoan-German athlete and plus-size model who promotes body positivity. “As women, we’re taught to be as small as possible,” Rousey said, speaking on the all-women panel that closed the evening. “You have a right to be here.”

The Emmy campaign comes as WWE is at a crossroads, in the midst of negotiating a new juggernaut TV deal with Fox. In an era when luring mass audiences to watch live TV has grown ever harder for networks, WWE is increasingly valuable, as wrestling and the scripted dramas that surround it continue to attract a broad and vocal viewership. As McMahon told the TV Academy audience, in a remark that drew gasps and applause, WWE’s primetime USA Network show, Monday Night Raw—its signature, Monday-night fight show—is the longest-running weekly episodic-television program in history, surpassing Lassie, Gunsmoke, and The Simpsons. WWE’s SmackDown Live is the second-longest running such program.

Among the Emmy categories the nearly $3 billion sports-entertainment company is competing in are structured reality series, for WWE Raw; unstructured reality, for its E! show about the lives of female wrestlers, Total Divas; and live variety special, for its version of the Super Bowl, Wrestlemania.

Compared to a typical FYC Emmys event, which features a screening and Q&A about matters of craft, WWE’s pitch was high on showmanship, if low on topics like production design and performance. Perhaps not surprisingly, coming from a company that meticulously plots its fights, McMahon’s remarks were tightly scripted, and the WWE catchphrase—“We put smiles on people’s faces”—was liberally deployed throughout the evening. The audience was a bit light on a night with competing Emmy-season events for Netflix’s Black Mirror, National Geographic’s One Strange Rock, and an HBO documentary roundtable. Based on who was on the street outside the TV Academy in North Hollywood, the event probably could have yielded a thrilled, packed house of fans, if only they had TV Academy member cards.

The Emmy voters I spoke with after the event seemed delighted by the company’s chutzpah, if skeptical of its pitch that WWE’s shows constitute serious storytelling. “It’s no different than a great television show, a great movie, an opera, a play—WWE tells stories,” McMahon said to me in our interview. “It’s protagonist versus antagonist with conflict resolution. The basic fundamentals of storytelling. The only difference is that our conflicts are settled inside a 20-by-20 foot ring, with some of the greatest live action that you can see in any Hollywood movie, in any stunts, in any sport.” At the TV Academy, McMahon made an even bolder bid, comparing WWE to cultural phenomena like Hamilton, Stranger Things, and The Handmaid’s Tale.

Undertaker's return date revealed - When is he coming back

Rumours have been suggesting that Undertaker will have more matches this year and some even claimed that he would appear at SummerSlam.

WWE announced that The Phenom will make his big comeback in New York City next month as part of the WWE Live SummerSlam Heatwave Tour.

Fans thought the seven-time world champion retired last year at WrestleMania 33 after losing an emotional match to Roman Reigns.

Following the bout, the ex-WWE Champion broke character as he laid down his signature jacket, gloves and hat in the middle of the ring before saluting the crowd.

However, the 53-year-old returned at WrestleMania 34 where he destroyed John Cena in less than three minutes.

The WWE legend also competed in another match at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia where he easily beat Rusev in a Casket Match.

WWE UK Superstar Tucker discussing the upcoming WWE UK Title tournament. Tucker says he came up short against Tyler Bate in last year's tournament but he's a different animal this year.

"None of these guys are moving like me, none of these guys are training like me," Tucker said about reinventing himself. "I'm doing things completely different, I've completely changed my training. I'm a lot leaner, a lot sharper, and you guys are going to see that this year."

Tucker goes on to say he's never been this hungry, he's never trained this hard and he's never felt better than this, and he will prove a point this year - he's the guy.

Nielsen is no longer releasing daily social media ratings. The weekly top 10 lists will still be released each Monday, meaning the social media ratings for this week's RAW and SmackDown will be available next week.

RAW Women's Champion Nia Jax took to Twitter today and gave props to Natalya for their non-title match on last night's RAW, which Jax won:

16 Former WWE Stars Fans Didn’t Know Are Performing In Smaller Arenas

The wrestling industry is booming in 2018 and it’s hard to keep track of where all the wrestlers perform. This industry is amazing if you think about it, it’s just as big, if not bigger than some of the top sports around the world. There are promotions across every continent except Antarctica, but we’re pretty sure our overlord, Vince McMahon, has set up some kind of secret wrestling promotion there.

He’s probably got lizard people fighting Bigfoot and the little gray men in some underground facility. We joke, but seriously, if McMahon could hire Big Foot, lizard people, and little grey men, we guarantee he would. With the countless promotions out there, these promotions need wrestlers and sometimes the best wrestlers they hire come from the WWE.

It’s not a secret that when a wrestler gets into the WWE, his or her stock as rises in the industry. That wrestler could be there for just a year, but it’s still a huge impact on their careers. When wrestlers leave the WWE Universe, it’s not the end of all days; they can easily find work elsewhere. This list comprises of wrestlers spanning several decades and some of them were champs while others weren’t. Enjoy. READ MORE
